AXA IM announces appointments in its Core Investments leadership team

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has announced today appointments in the Core Investments leadership team. Core Investments brings together the Fixed Income, Framlington Equities and Multi-Asset platforms at AXA IM.

The appointments, which are effective immediately, have been made to drive investment process enhancements and deliver on growth ambitions. They will accelerate collaboration and innovation between the platforms, as well as further embedding Research and Quant Lab insights into portfolio decisions.

They are as follows:

  • Chris Iggo is appointed Chief Investment Officer for Core Investments. As such, Chris will lead the Core Investments “virtual” investment institute which will bring together the insights of the Research, Quant Lab and Responsible Investment teams for the benefit of all portfolio managers across asset classes.
  • Marion Le Morhedec is appointed Head of Active Fixed Income Europe & Asia. Marion will be responsible for building a strategy to accelerate AXA IM’s footprint in this key business area.
  • Serge Pizem is appointed Head of Multi-Asset, leading all the investment teams of Multi-Asset. In his new role, he will still manage the Optimal Income range. Serge’s experience and well-recognised expertise will help AXA IM further strengthen its position in this highly requested and differentiating capability.
  • Laurent Clavel is appointed Head of the Quant Lab, that has been set up to foster innovation, focusing on quantitative research, portfolio engineering, product engineering and structuring.

Biographies

Laurent Clavel

Laurent Clavel was previously Head of Research at AXA IM.

Laurent joined AXA IM in 2015 as International Economist, before becoming Head of Macroeconomic Research. Prior to AXA IM, he worked for two years at the French Statistical Institute (INSEE) as the Head of the Forecasting Unit. Before this Laurent spent three years at the French Embassy in Stockholm, where he covered the Nordic economies as financial advisor to the French Treasury. He also worked for the French Ministry for the Budget and the French Statistical Institute.

Laurent graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, holds an MSc in economics from Paris School of Economics, Statistics and Finance (ENSAE Paris Tech).

Chris Iggo

Chris Iggo was previously Chief Investment Officer for the Fixed Income investment platform since 2008 and additionally Head of Active Fixed Income Europe and Asia since 2014 at AXA IM. He joined AXA IM as a Senior Strategist in 2005.

Prior to joining AXA IM, Chris has been Head of Strategy at Cazenove Fund Management. Before that, he spent four years at Barclays Capital, first as Chief US Economist (in New York) and then as Chief European Economist. Previously, he spent seven years at Chase Manhattan Bank in London and New York as an Economist and Foreign Exchange Strategist.

Chris holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of London.

Marion Le Morhedec

Marion Le Morhedec was previously Head of Product Specialists and Solutions for the Core Investments platform since February 2019.

Previously, Marion was Head of Business Development and Client Relationships for Fixed Income from 2016 to 2019. Before that, she was a Senior Portfolio Manager within the Fixed Income team, where she was responsible for managing inflation portfolios between 2006 and 2016. Marion initially joined AXA IM in 2003 as Product Manager.

Prior to joining AXA IM, Marion worked for BNP Paribas in London and Madrid as derivatives structurer for fixed income and equity market products.

Marion holds Bachelor’s degree from ESSEC Business School.

Serge Pizem

Serge Pizem was Global Head of the Multi-Assets Investments team since 2013.

He had previously joined the multi-asset team in 2011 to set up the total return expertise.

Serge initially joined AXA IM in 2002 as Head of European Equities in Paris for Framlington Equities, before being appointed Head of Framlington Equities Paris team.

Prior to AXA IM, Serge was a Managing Director at Tal Asset Management Europe for two years. Prior to that, he worked at Barclays Asset Management for two years, as Head of Equity Investments and Asset Allocation. Before that, Serge worked at Crédit Lyonnais in Canada for eight years in various roles, most recently as a Portfolio Manager of international equities.

Serge holds a Master’s in Information Technology and Operations Research from the University of Montréal and an MBA from McGill University. Serge is also a CFA charterholder.
